Abstract

Good edge effects and inter-image effects are obtained where DIR couplers corresponding to formula I are used in color photogrpahic silver halide materials. ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 is H, Cl, --CF.sub.3, alkoxy, sulfamoyl; PA1 R.sup.2 is H, Cl, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, carbamoyl; PA1 n is 0, 1 or 2; PA1 X is O or S; PA1 Y is a group with a silver halide development inhibiting function releasable during color development; PA1 Z is benzoyl, pivaloyl, carbamoyl or a quinazolin-4-on-2-yl group.
