Abstract

Novel linear or branched O.sub.2 -curable polyorganosiloxanes containing propanaldehyde functional groups and at least three recurring siloxyl units per molecule, at least one unit of which corresponds to the general formula: ##EQU1## in which X is the radical --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 CHO or the radical ##STR1## and R is a monovalent hydrocarbon residue containing from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, are prepared by hydroformylation of the corresponding polyorganosiloxane in an organic phase by means of a catalyst system which is soluble in the organic phase but insoluble in aqueous phase, such catalyst system including a rhodium/sulfonated or carboxylated triarylphospine salt complex.
