Abstract

A process for the production of hydroxyamines of the formula I EQU R.sup.1 --CH(OH)--CH(NHR.sup.3)--R.sup.2 (I) wherein PA1 R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently of one another are H or CH.sub.2 OH and PA1 R.sup.3 is H, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -hydroxyalkyl comprising reacting an oxo compound with an amine and reducing the resultant ketimine with a reducing agent.
