Abstract
A process is provided for applying a thermostable identification mark to an absorbent material such as piece goods or ceramics. A cobalt salt solution containing hydrogen peroxide is applied in the form of a mark to the surface of an absorbent material, followed by a thermal aftertreatment above 400.degree. C. for stabilization of the identifying mark.
