Abstract

Methods of combating pests with substituted pyrimidines of the formula I ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is alkyl, cycloalyl, haloalkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio or substituted or unsubstituted aryl, R.sup.2 is halogen or hydrogen, A is oxygen, or sulfur, and X is CH or N, and pyrimidines of the general formula Ia ##STR2## where A is oxygen or sulfur and X is CH or N, and pesticides containing these compounds.
