Abstract
Compositions for treating timber, especially timber to be exposed to the ground, comprising creosote and a compound of formula I: ##STR1## wherein Z and Z.sup.1 are the same or different and are each halo, halophenyl or haloalkyl, X is hydrogen or cyano, and Y is hydrogen or a fluorine atom. The preferred pyrethroid is Permethrin. The compositions are unusually stable and have a prolonged protective action against termites, beetles, molluscs, woodworm and the like.
