Abstract

A silver halide photographic material comprising a support having thereon at least one silver halide emulsion layer, wherein the silver halide emulsion layer comprises a silver halide emulsion which satisfies condition (i) and wherein the silver halide emulsion layer or another silver halide emulsion layer having the same color sensitivity as that of the silver halide emulsion layer comprises a silver halide emulsion which satisfies condition (ii): Condition (i): tabular grains having at least two twinning planes, a diameter of at least 0.15 .mu.m and an average aspect ratio of at least 2 account for at least 70% of silver halide grains as calculated in terms of projected area and grains having a (b/a) ratio of at least 5 wherein (a) is the longest distance between the two or more parallel twinning planes and (b) is the grain thickness account for at least 50% of the tabular grains by number; Condition (ii): grains having a diameter of at least 0.15 .mu.m and an average aspect ratio of less than 2 account for at least 70% of silver halide grains as calculated in terms of projected area.
