Abstract

1-Trifluoromethyl-1-nitro-2-alkoxy-2-aryl-ethanes of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 represents a straight-chain or branched alkyl radical and PA0 R.sup.2 represents an optionally substituted aryl or hetaryl radical, their preparation from an aldehyde of the formula R.sup.2 -CHO, an alcohol of the formula R.sup.1 -OH and trifluoromethylnitromethane in the presence of a compound containing basic groups and antimycotic agents containing these compounds.
