Abstract

In the application of an adhesive component to a collagen-containing material such as tooth or a bone, the improvement wherein the adhesive component comprises a compound of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 denotes hydrogen or methyl, PA0 R.sup.2 and R.sup.4 denote divalent aliphatic radicals having one to three carbon atoms, PA0 R.sup.3 denotes hydrogen or formyl (--CO--H), PA0 X denotes hydrogen or (meth)acryloyl ##STR2## and n represents 0 or 1, with the proviso that if R.sup.3 equals H, n is zero. Those compounds are new in which R.sup.3 denotes formyl and n represents 1.
