Abstract

Compounds of the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each independently of the other hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, or phenyl or naphthyl, each unsubstituted or substituted by 1 to 3 C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl groups, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are each independently of the other hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, with the proviso that R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 may not simultaneously be hydrogen, and R.sub.5 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, or phenyl or naphthyl, each unsubstituted or substituted by 1 to 3 C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl groups, and X is oxygen or sulfur, are very suitable flame retardants for polymers.
