Abstract

A display apparatus includes (a) a display panel having a display picture area formed by scanning electrodes and data electrodes arranged in a matrix; (b) a driver including a first driver for driving the scanning electrodes and a second driver for driving the data electrodes; and (c) a controller for controlling the driver so as to repeat a partial rewriting scanning operation by applying a scanning selection signal to only a part of the scanning electrodes forming the display picture area. In addition, the apparatus operates in an interlace mode when normal field scanning is performed and in a non-interlace mode when partial scanning is being performed to change the position of the cursor. In addition, the apparatus includes a flag memory for setting one bit of data for each electrode.
