Abstract

The present invention is directed to a novel prepolymer and the use thereof in a RIM process. The prepolymer is an isocyanate terminated prepolymer having an isocyanate group content of from about 10 to about 26% by weight, and being prepared by a process comprising: PA1 (a) reacting a C.sub.1 to C.sub.5 alkyl acetoacetate, with a polyol having a molecular weight of from about 500 to about 6000, and a hydroxyl functionality of from 2 to 4, and PA1 (b) reacting the resultant product with an organic di- and/or polyisocyanate.
