Abstract

The invention relates to a method using water-soluble dyestuffs for coloring recording fluids, particularly in the ink jet process, wherein the dyestuffs in the form of the free acid have the general formula A--(SO.sub.2 -X).sub.p. The dyestuffs (I) can be prepared analogously to methods for preparing known vinylsulfone or .beta.-sulfatoethylsulfone dyestuffs which are further reacted with nucleophiles R.sup.1 OH, HNR.sup.1 R.sup.2, HSR.sup.1 etc. Some of the reaction products are novel dyestuffs.
