Abstract
A novel direct positive photosensitive material is provided comprising a support having therein at least one photographic emulsion layer containing internal latent image type silver halide grains not having been previously fogged, wherein the photographic emulsion layer comprises: PA0 (1) at least one of compounds represented by the general formulae [I], [II] and [III]; and PA0 (2) at least one of compounds represented by the general formulae [IV], [V] and [VI]: EQU R--SO.sub.2 S--M [I] EQU R--SO.sub.2 S--R.sup.1 [II] EQU R--SO.sub.2 S--Lm--S.O.sub.2 S--R.sup.2 [III] wherein R, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 may be the same or different and each represents an aliphatic group, aromatic group or heterocyclic group; M represents a cation; L represents a divalent connecting group; and m represents an integer 0 or 1; EQU M'.sub.2 SO.sub.3 [IV] EQU M'HSO.sub.3 [V] EQU M'.sub.2 S.sub.2 O.sub.5 [VI] wherein M' represents a hydrogen atom or cation.
