Abstract

The present invention discloses a method of treatment of an atherosclerotic blood vessel. Specifically, therapeutic agents are delivered by means of a specialized catheter system to the deeper layers of the vessel wall with only minimal interuption of the vessel endothelium. This system will allow high local concentrations of otherwise toxic agents directly at the site of an atherosclerotic plaque. This invention will hopefully reduce the incidence of late restenosis attributed to cellular hyperplasia or rethrombosis.
