Abstract
A lubricant oil for refrigerators, industrial gears, automotive engines, automotive gear oil, fibers and as a rolling lubricant oil, comprising a glycol ether carbonate represented by the general formula [I] EQU R.sub.1 --0--R.sub.3 --0).sub.m CO--OR.sub.4).sub.n OR.sub.2 [I] wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each independently an aliphatic group, an alicyclic group, an aromatic group and an aromatic-substituted aliphatic group each having not greater than 20 carbon atoms, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are each independently an ethylene group or an isopropylene group, and m and n are each independently an integer of 2 to 100, and optionally containing ozone layer-nondestructive Freon such as Freon R-134a.
