Abstract
Compositions and a process are disclosed for producing tungsten and tungsten nitride coatings on metals or ceramics, utilizing a tungsten-containing metal-organic precursor compound dissolved in an organic solvent. Conversion of the precursor compound to a tungsten or tungsten nitride coating is accomplished by heating the coated metal or ceramic to a temperature of about 600.degree.-1200.degree. C. under a nitrogen or other inert gas atmosphere.
