Abstract
A silane compound having the following formula, wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each monovalent hydrocarbon radicals having 1 to 4 carbon atoms and n is an integer of 0, 1 or 2: ##STR1## which is manufactured by reacting 1-allyl-.epsilon.-caprolactam of the following formula: ##STR2## with a hydrogen silane of the following formula: EQU HSiR.sup.1.sub.n (OR.sup.2).sub.3-n in the presence of a platinum-containing catalyst. The silane compound is useful as a surface treatment agent for imparting a moisture-repelling property to the surface of various materials.
