Abstract
Polysilanes are produced by reacting dihalosilanes in the presence of alkali metals, By carrying out the dihalosilane reaction in the presence of copper halide catalysts at temperatures of at least 100.degree. C., higher molecular weight polysilanes are obtained in acceptable yields.
