Abstract
An insect repellent comprising as an active ingredient a monoterpenediol compound having the formula, ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 have either one of the following definitions: PA0 (i) all of R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are hydrogen, PA0 (ii) R.sub.1 is hydrogen and R.sub.2 and R.sub.3, taken together, form a carbon-carbon single bond, or PA0 (iii) R.sub.2 is hydrogen, R.sub.1 and R.sub.3, taken together, form a carbon-carbon single bond, and the hydroxyl bonded to the carbon atom marked with an asterisk takes an .alpha.-configuration.
