Abstract
A magnetic recording medium comprises a substrate and provided on at least one side thereof a magnetic recording layer and a protective layer of thin film mainly composed of an oxide of silicon, in this order. Said protective layer has an electrical specific resistance of not less than 10.sup.12 .OMEGA.. cm.
