Abstract

A dynamic stress relief device for a hose having an end fitting with an end collar that receives, circumferentially surrounds, and secures the hose to the fitting. The stress relief device has a mechanism which changes the combined spring moment density of the hose over the length of the device. The length of the device is in the range of three to twenty times the diameter of the hose. The design is specifically for use on hoses subject to high frequency, high cycle, reversing linear or rotary flexing which may lead to fatigue and hysteresis loss. While the invention may find use in many dynamic environments, it is especially useful in the hydraulic brake line of a vehicle.
