Abstract

Phenoneazo dyes of the formula ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is substituted or unsubstituted C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl or substituted phenyl, PA1 R.sup.2 is cyano, carbamoyl or acetyl, PA1 R.sup.3 is substituted or unsubstituted C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl or C.sub.3 -C.sub.12 -alkyl which is interrupted by from 1 to 3 oxygen atoms and may be substituted, and PA1 R.sup.4 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, are useful for thermal transfer processes and for dyeing or printing synthetic fabrics.
