Abstract
The invention relates to cosmetic and pharmaceutical compositions containing the derivatives of benzylidenecamphor of formula: ##STR1## where R.sub.1 denotes H, OH, C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkoxy, R.sub.3 denotes OH, C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkoxy, or else when R.sub.1 denotes H or OH, R.sub.3 can represent C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl, R.sub.2 and R.sub.4 denote H or OH, at least one of the radicals R.sub.2 and R.sub.4 representing OH. The compounds (I) are wide-band sunscreens and antioxidants, and are utilized in the treatment of cutaneous inflammations and allergies.
