Abstract

Alkyl (poly)glucoside ether carboxylates of the formula ##STR1## where R is C.sub.1 - to C.sub.24 -alkyl, C.sub.1 - to C.sub.24 -alkylphenyl, hydroxy-C.sub.2 - to C.sub.6 -alkyl, hydroxy-C.sub.1 - to C.sub.24 -alkylphenyl, ##STR2## or H, R.sup.1 is H or methyl, PA1 R.sup.2 is ##STR3## X is a hydrogen, alkali metal, ammonium and/or substituted ammonium equivalent, PA1 x is from 1 to 10, y is from 0 to 10, z is from 1 to 4, PA1 a process for the preparation of the compounds of the formula I and the use of these compounds as an additive to phosphate-free and low-phosphate detergents, are described.
