Abstract
Anthraquinone compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein: R.sup.1 is hydrogen, hydroxy or acyloxy, PA0 R.sup.2 is hydrogen or acyl, PA0 R.sup.3 is acyl, PA0 R.sup.4 is hydrogen or acyl, PA0 R.sup.5 is hydrogen or acyl, PA0 R.sup.6 is hydrogen or acyl, and PA0 R.sup.7 is hydrogen or acyl have been found to possess endothelin antagonistic properties and are producible by various synthetic and fermentation processes.
