Abstract
A lens mount for positioning a cylindrical lens in x, y, z and .theta..sub.x, .theta..sub.y, .theta..sub.z directional degrees of freedom includes a carrier movable to a selected z axis position on a base including an elongated rail, and a non-precision retainer which applies a biasing torque in the .theta..sub.z direction onto the lens. The lens is positioned with a planar y-y surface against a corresponding planar x-y surface of a cavity of the carrier and is retained therein by the retainer for location in the magnification x or y axis and .theta..sub.z directions against the applied bias, with x axis and y axis directed locating screws contacting the lens and retainer. In a modified embodiment, relative z axis positioning, as well as independent magnification x or y and .theta..sub.z directional adjustment is provided in a mount that accommodates two cylindrical lenses.
