Abstract
The compounds of formula ##STR1## wherein R, R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, and R.sub.4 have the meanings given in the specification, as described. The compounds of formula I are active as inhibitors of the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase and can be used in therapy as anti-hypercholesterolemics.
