Abstract

An essentially solvent-free adhesive composition containing PA1 A) an aqueous acrylate latex and PA1 B) 30 to 150% by weight, based on the solids content of the acrylate latex A), of a mixture of PA2 b1) 50 to 95% by weight, based on the mixture, of at least one tackifying resin and PA2 b2) 5 to 50% by weight, based on the mixture, of a compound of the formula I EQU R.sup.1 --O--(X--O).sub.n --R.sup.2 PA2 where X is alkylene of 2 to 4 carbons, n is an integer from 1 to 8 and R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each hydrogen or aryl or alkaryl of 6 to 12 carbon atoms, where R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are not both hydrogen, is prepared as described and used as adhesive for floor coverings.
