Abstract

A method for preparing a silver halide emulsion containing silver halide grains comprising PA0 (i) preparing a mixture by mixing a compound represented by the following Formula (1) or (2), and a gold compound; and PA0 (ii) performing chemical ripening of the emulsion by adding said mixture thereto: ##STR1## wherein M, R, V and W independently represent a hydrogen atom or a substituent group; V and W may combine with each other to form a ring.
