Abstract
A cosmetic composition according to the present invention comprises: water, and emulsified and dispersed in the water: (1) a moisturizing component comprising: (a) hydrophilic microcapsules and (b) lipophilic microcapsules comprising: glycosphingolipids, phospholipids, cholesterol, at least one long-chain saturated fatty acid selected from the group consisting of myristic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, and arachidic acid, squalane, a C.sub.10 -C.sub.30 carboxylic acid ester of a sterol selected from the group consisting of cholesterol, lanosterol, and mixtures thereof, and octyldodecanol; (2) a short-chain fatty acid ester of tocopherol; (3) a glyceryl ester complex; (4) Aloe vera gel; and (5) chamomile extract. Each of these ingredients is present in a cosmetically effective quantity. The proportion of hydrophilic microcapsules to lipophilic microcapsules in the moisturizing component is from about 2:3 to about 3:2.
