Abstract

Curable binders obtained by simultaneous reaction of PA1 A) urethanes or ureas, PA1 B) acrylic or methacrylic compounds containing hydroxyl groups, PA1 C) paraformaldehyde and PA1 D) if appropriate, polyols, wherein, in the case where no polyol D) is also reacted, the reaction is carried out in the presence of an acid ion exchanger, and in the case where a polyol D) is also reacted, the reaction is carried out in the presence of an acid ion exchanger or a strong acid. These binders are suitable as coating compositions which can be cured by electron beams or by UV light.
