Abstract
A process for preparing a compound of formula I: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents a hydroxy protecting group and R.sub.2 represents a carboxy protecting group, which comprises: PA0 hydrolyzing a compound of formula II ##STR2## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are as defined above and R represents an alkyl, alkenyl or phenylalkyl group having from 1 to 18 carbon atoms, in the presence of an enzyme capable of selectively hydrolyzing the ester group of the 2-substituent thereof.
