Abstract

A method for measuring the water permeability in a concrete structure comprising: (a) pressure sealing a selected length of a borehole in the concrete structure, (b) injecting an aqueous medium into the selected length of borehole, (c) applying sufficient pressure to the injected aqueous medium and for a time necessary to produce a substantially steady state, measurable flow of the aqueous medium into the concrete structure from the selected length of borehole, (d) measuring the steady state flow of aqueous medium, and (e) computing from the steady state flow measurement the water permeability of the concrete structure. An apparatus employing the method is also disclosed.
