Indophenol dyes of the formula ##STR1## where X is nitrogen or the radical CH, PA1 Q is a five-membered heterocyclic radical, and PA1 K is a radical of an aniline, aminonaphthalene, aminoquinoline or aminothiazole derivative, and PA1 the radical A can be benzofused, are useful for thermal transfer processes.
