Abstract
A flame-retardant resin composition obtained by irradiating with ionizing radiation a resin composition comprising 100 parts by weight of a thermoplastic resin, from 100 to 250 parts by weight of magnesium hydroxide, and from 1 to 10 parts by weight of an organosilicon compound represented by formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R represents an alkyl group containing a methacrylic or acrylic group and Y.sup.1, Y.sup.2, and Y.sup.3 each represents a group selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group, an alkoxyl group, and a halogen group; and an insulated electrical wire obtained by coating the above flame-retardant resin composition on a conductor followed by irradiation.
