Abstract
Indole derivatives of the following formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is carboxy(lower)alkyl or protected carboxy(lower)alkyl, PA1 R.sup.2 is hydrogen, lower alkyl or halogen, PA1 R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are each hydrogen or lower alkyl, PA1 R.sup.5 is ar(lower)alkyl which may have suitable substituent(s), and PA1 A is carbonyl, sulfonyl or lower alkylene, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, which are useful as a testosterone 5.alpha.-reductase inhibitor.
