Abstract

A crosslinked polyurethane polyurea spherically particulate polymer having an average particle diameter of 0.1 to 500 .mu.m, wherein the polymer molecule contains an isocyanurate ring in an amount of 10 to 30% by weight is disclosed. A process for producing the crosslinked polyurethane polyurea spherically particulate polymer is also disclosed. The process comprises the steps of: reacting an isocyanurate ring-containing polyisocyanate compound with a polyhydroxy compound to form an organic phase capable of forming a three-dimensional crosslinked structure due to the reaction, wherein the amount of isocyanate groups in the polyisocyanate compound is stoichiometrically larger than that of hydroxyl groups in the polyhydroxy compound; finely dispersing the organic phase into water; and adding a polyamine to the dispersion to make interfacial polymerization between the organic phase and the polyamine and a polyurethane-forming reaction within particles, wherein the amount of the polyamine is stoichiometrically equivalent to or smaller than the stoichiometrical excess of isocyanate groups. The particulate polymer is excellent in solvent resistance and has a completely spherical shape wit…
