The paper ensures excellent transfer, reproduction and fixability of ink dots as well as satisfactory image clearness, etc. A substrate contains a porous pigment in an amount of 6 to 20% by weight, which pigment has an apparent specific gravity under JIS-K-6220 of 0.10 to 0.50 g/cm.sup.3. The angle of contact .theta. of the surface of the substrate with water is 75 to 120.degree.. The substrate is coated or saturated with an aqueous coating composition comprising a pigment and a binder.
