Abstract

This invention is concerned with a novel antacid composition, said composition comprising, in association with a physiologically acceptable excipient, a pharmaceutically effective amount of a mixture of PA0 (a) an Al-containing material which normally adheres to the gastrointestinal mucous membrane, as a first pharmaceutically active component, and PA0 (b) a Mg-containing material which normally does not adhere to the gastrointestinal mucous membrane, as a second pharmaceutically active component, wherein the weight ratio of Al in said Al-containing material to Mg in said Mg-containing material is 5.1:1 to 7.0:1. Said composition is particularly useful in the treatment of dyspepsia.
