Abstract

Novel compounds having the general formula EQU S--Ar--X in which PA0 S denotes a saccharide residue PA0 Ar denotes an aryl residue and PA0 X denotes a straight-chained or branched alkyl residue with 2 to 20 carbon atoms, provided that the aryl residue may not be a 4-ethylphenyl, 4-isopropylphenyl, 4-sec.-butyl or 4-dodecylphenyl residue if the saccharide is a galactopyranoside residue, are interesting surface-active agents and are particularly suitable in diagnostic tests in order to clear serum.
