Abstract

Substituted phenyl trifluoromethyl ethers of the formula I EQU R.sup.1 --(A.sup.1 --Z.sup.1).sub.n --A.sup.2 --Z.sup.2 --A.sup.3 --OCF.sub.3 I in which R.sup.1, A.sup.1, Z.sup.1, n, A.sup.2, Z.sup.2 and A.sup.3 have the meaning given in claim 1, are suitable as components of liquid-crystalline phases.
