Abstract
In the manufacture of thin metal slab, a workpiece is cast in a continuous casting mould but, while still connected to the part within the mould, the workpiece is treated differently across its width to produce slab of a different width from the east workpiece and of uniform cross-section. The treatment may be rolling or forging.
