Abstract
A method is described for dyeing fibrous materials made of or containing wool with anionic dyes, which comprises dyeing these materials in the presence of a wool preservative comprising at least one compound of the formula EQU R--CH.sub.2 --CH(OH)--CH.sub.2 --Y (I), where the variables are as defined in the claims. Rub-fast level dyeings are obtainable without deterioration in the quality of the wool.
