Abstract

The invention describes basic calcium aluminum hydroxy phosphites of the general formula EQU Ca.sub.x Al.sub.2 (OH).sub.2(x+3-y) (HPO.sub.3).sub.y.mH.sub.2 O wherein PA1 x=2-12, ##EQU1## and m=0-12, with the proviso that y.noteq.1, if x=2-8. The compounds according to the invention are particularly suited as stabilizers for halogen-containing polymers, in particular PVC.
