Abstract

Process for the preparation of taurine-conjugated biliary acids of general formula (I): EQU (Y--NH--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --SO.sub.3).sub.1 M (I) where Y is the acyl of a biliary acid selected from the group consisting of ursodeoxycholic, chenodeoxycholic, lithocholic, 3.alpha.-7.beta.-12.alpha.-tri-hydroxycholanic, 3.alpha.-7.beta.-dihydroxy-12-ketocholanic, deoxycholic, dehydrocholic, iodeoxycholic, iocholic acids; M is H, Na, K, Mg, Ca; 1 is 1 or 2, being 2 when M=Mg or Ca.
