Abstract

A catalyst active in the preparation of alternating olefin/carbon monoxide (CO) copolymers is constituted by: PA0 (a) at least one salt of a metal of Group IB of the Periodic System, PA0 (b) an either mono- or bidentate ligand containing one or two nitrogen or phosphorus atoms capable of linking to the copper, silver or gold atom by means of dative bonds, PA0 (c) a mineral or organic acid. Disclosed are the preparation of the catalyst and the use of said catalyst in alternated copolymerization of ethylene (C2) and/or other olefins with carbon monoxide.
