Abstract

A liquid or pasty, storage-stable, multiple emulsion of the O.sup.1 /W/O.sup.2 type, in which O.sup.2 forms an outer phase of the multiple emulsion, a hydrophilic emulsifier being present at the O.sup.1 /W interface and a hydrophobic emulsifier being present at the W/O.sup.2 interface, is prepared where PA1 (1) the hydrophobic emulsifier has an HLB value of at most 8 and PA2 a.sub.1) a polyacrylate ester with long-chain hydrocarbon and polyoxyalkylene groups, or PA2 a.sub.2) a polyoxyalkylenepolysiloxane with long-chain alkyl groups linked to silicon atoms, and PA1 (2) the hydrophilic emulsifier is a nonionic emulsifier with an HLB value of more than 8.
