Abstract

Provided is an ink for ink-jet recording, comprising a dye, water, and the components (a), (b), and (c) below: PA1 (a) at least one surfactant selected from the group consisting of higher alcohol-ethylene oxide adducts represented by General Formula [1], alkylphenol-ethylene oxide adducts represented by General Formula [2], ethylene oxide-propylene oxide copolymers represented by General Formula [3], and acetylene glycol-ethylene oxide adducts represented by General Formula [4], at a content of from 0.1 to 20% by weight; EQU R--O--(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.n --H 1 where R is alkyl, and n is an integer; ##STR1## where R is alkyl, and n is an integer; ##STR2## where R is alkyl or hydrogen, and n and l are respectively an integer; ##STR3## where m and n are respectively an integer; (b) thiodiglycol; and PA1 (c) urea or a derivative thereof.
