Abstract
Apparatus is provided for mounting a thermostat capillary in close proximity to the inside face of the indoor heat exchanger of a room air conditioner. The air conditioner includes a thermostat mounted in operational proximity to the heat exchanger which has a capillary extending therefrom. The indoor heat exchanger includes a flat surface adapted to receive a flow of air therethrough and having a pair of tube sheets at opposite ends thereof. One of the tube sheets is adjacent the capillary. Both of the tube sheets extend forwardly from the flat surface of the indoor heat exchanger a distance at least as far as the thickness of the capillary. The tube sheet adjacent to the capillary has a recess formed therein to receive the capillary. The air conditioner further includes heat exchanger retaining structure positioned at the upper end thereof which is adapted to engage each of the tube sheets at one end and which has a portion thereof extending from one tube sheet to the other which extends a distance outwardly from the face of the heat exchange surface a distance substantially equal to the thickness of the capillary. The heat exchanger retaining structure includes a recess formed t…
